Language Science Research Group

The Language Science Research Group is an interdisciplinary working group of linguists, psycholinguists, applied linguists, and cognitive neuroscientists who share an interest in language acquisition and bilingualism. The LSRG meets weekly to discuss research, read papers together, share new methodological developments, and practice giving conference talks. A particular interest is in developing collaborative research projects across the disciplines.

Graduate Linguistics Minor

The doctoral minor provides interested students with an opportunity to complete a program of scientific study focused on the nature, structure and use of the human language. The minor is designed to cover the foundations of the discipline of linguistics by reviewing fundamental core areas such as phonology and syntax. Coursework is also available in many additional areas of linguistics such as semantics, morphology, sociolinguistics, and historical linguistics.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MINOR: 15 credits

PRESCRIBED COURSES (6 credits): 

        LING 402 (3), LING 404 (3)

ADDITIONAL COURSES (9 credits)

        Select 9 additional credits from LING offerings, at least 6 of which must be at the 500-level.
